Exhibition at Tibor de Nagy Gallery presents a selection of paintings and works on paper by Jane Freilicher

The Tibor de Nagy Gallery is presenting a selection of paintings and works on paper by the greatly admired painter Jane Freilicher (1924-2014). The show is the first the gallery presents since her death a year ago. It comprises subject matter for which she is most closely identified including cityscapes, still lifes, and landscapes. Since the 1950s the artist pursued a distinctive and intimate painterly realism. The exhibition marks the artist’s twenty-first with the gallery. The exhibition explores the artist’s constancy and dedication to her subject: the views from the windows of her Greenwich Village apartment and her Long Island studio. Freilicher painted the same views since the very early 1960s, when she and her husband, Joe Hazan, built a house and studio in Water Mill on Long Island.
