YOSEMITE AT 150: A Photographic Celebration OPENING RECEPTION

Please join us on Saturday, May 10th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. for an OPENING RECEPTION with Special Guest Mike Tollefson, Yosemite Conservancy President – Remarks at 6:30

Photographers Scot Miller and R.P. Washburne will also be in attendance.

In 1864, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Yosemite Grant, widely credited as the beginning of the national park idea, with photographs from Carleton Watkins fresh on his mind. Later, Ansel Adams’ famous images of Yosemite embellished and cemented Yosemite’s reputation as a photographer’s paradise. YOSEMITE AT 150: A Photographic Celebration brings together diverse perspectives and photographic processes and features fine prints by 13 contemporary Yosemite photographers, including Alan Ross & John Sexton, Ansel Adams’ last two Photographic Assistants, and the photographers responsible for First Light: Five Photographers Explore Yosemite’s Wilderness. In addition, the gallery is displaying “Yosemite Falls by moonlight, Yosemite Valley (California, 1986),” a print by the late photographer Galen Rowell.

Mike Tollefson, president of Yosemite Conservancy, will be our special guest at the Opening Reception on May 10. Prior to joining Yosemite Conservancy in 2009, he had a 36-year career with the National Park Service and was Superintendent of Yosemite National Park from 2003-2009. Save the date and take this opportunity to meet Mike and learn more about Yosemite and Yosemite Conservancy. Photographers Scot Miller and R.P. Washburne will also be in attendance.

This exhibition shows Yosemite in a scope and variety you will not find anywhere else! Come, and be inspired. Partial proceeds benefit Yosemite Conservancy.
