Summer Cut

Reception: Thursday, August 7, 6:00 – 8:30 pm

‘What makes the cut in summer?’ – A question we challenged ourselves to answer, being inspired by shorter summer haircuts and even shorter hemlines. ‘Cut short’, this fresh exhibition celebrates the brief sweetness of summer fun with eight artists, new to the gallery, invited to exhibit their works alongside gallery artists.

For this show, we selected paintings, sculptures, drawings, watercolors, and mixed media works, which were all inspired by summer activities and summer fun! Such activities include trips to the beach, lounging in the pool, standing in the rain, splashing in a fountain, walking in the woods, or simply enjoying the bounty of summer produce. Other works were inspired by the artists’ own studio environments (a different interpretation of summer relaxation) and in some cases, their own undertaking of renovation projects. To add to this varied selection, road trips, county fairs, and even lounging dogs provided inspiration.

Our eight new artists for ‘Summer Cut’ include Alex Corno (Milan, Italy), Allison Gildersleeve (Brooklyn, NY), Erika Huddleston (Dallas), Andrea Packard (Pennsylvania), Enrico Riley (Vermont), Charlotte Seifert (Dallas), Alan Siggers (Burleson), and Scott Winterrowd (Oak Cliff).

Along with those eight, spirited summer selections include works by artists Chad Airhart, Vera Barnett, Lu Ann Barrow, Lloyd Brown, Lindy Chambers, Francis Chapin, Brian Cobble, David Collins, Laurie Hickman Cox, Margie Crisp, David A. Dreyer, David Everett, Philip John Evett, Henry Finkelstein, Barnaby Fitzgerald, Teri Fitzpatrick, Bart Forbes, Lilian Garcia-Roig, Ginger Henry Geyer, David H.
