Sedrick Huckaby: Three Forbidden F Words: Faith, Family, and Fathers

“Every formal decision is a decision for meaning.”

Sedrick Huckaby returned home to Fort Worth after earning his MFA from Yale University, following his BFA at Boston University. Huckaby is a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Joan Mitchell Foundation Award. Currently, his self-portrait is on view at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.

This exhibition includes paintings, sculpture, and drawings from his studio, as well as prints and works on paper resulting from residencies at the University of North Texas P.R.I.N.T. Press, STUDIO-f at The University of Tampa, and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art’s Davidson Family Fellowship. Huckaby teaches at The University of Texas at Arlington.

Sedrick Huckaby’s work is in numerous museum collections, including: Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Art Institute of Chicago, McNay Art Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Museum of Texas Tech University, Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Tyler Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
