Miles Cleveland Goodwin: Where We Prayed

Valley House Gallery is pleased to announce our first exhibition for Miles Cleveland Goodwin and the first exhibition in Texas for this Mississippi-born artist. After a tour of duty in the US Navy, he earned a BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon, in 2007, and eventually returned to coastal Mississippi – to the land and people he knows so well.

Working in his open-air studio, Goodwin is deeply in touch with the rural landscape where his extended family lives and where people depend on one another. Goodwin’s ruminative portrayals, full of earthy metaphor and soulful intuition, engage us in reciprocal story-telling in the spirit of the literature and Delta Blues of the Deep South.

Opening Reception: Saturday, July 11, 6:00 – 8:30 pm

“Miles Cleveland Goodwin: Where We Prayed” will be on view July 11 – August 15, 2015, at Valley House Gallery. Preview the exhibition at valleyhouse.com or call 972-239-2441 for information.
