Jill Skupin Burkholder: Poetic Imagery
Photographer and print maker Jill Skupin Burkholder is best known for her work with age-old handcrafted techniques such as bromoil printing, an alternative photography process using brushes and lithography inks to create prints with beautiful impressionistic and textural looks, and encaustic print making, using pigmented beeswax and resin to enhance her photographic images. Jill is one of a very few photographers today working with these print making processes.
According to Jill, “I classify my work as poetic perception. In most instances, the subjects in the images were actually there and the scenes are not constructed by my hands or by creating digital collages. My creative input (by composition and both old and new photo techniques) attempts to point you toward the emotion I felt when I saw the scene.”
Her works of art are enchanting, engaging and valued worldwide by collectors and lovers of art in general.
Jill teaches workshops throughout the world and is teaching two workshops at Sun to Moon Gallery while in Dallas. She is married to fine art photographer Dan Burkholder and lives at the base of the Catskills in Palenville, New York.
Sun to Moon Gallery, a fine art photography gallery, is located in the Dallas Design District.
