DonorBridge Giving Day

Three nonprofits in Dallas that serve the community through the visual arts are combining volunteer efforts to raise money on North Texas Giving Day, Thursday, September 19, 2013.

Dallas Art Dealers Association (DADA)’s Edith Baker Art Scholarship, St. Matthew’s Cathedral Arts (SMCA) and The McKinney Avenue Contemporary (The MAC) will be raising money together on Sept. 19 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at The MAC, 3120 McKinney Avenue. Volunteers who come to assist in the social media campaign will receive food and drink and be entertained with tunes.

North Texas Giving Day is an annual fundraising event that has pumped more than $34.4 million into the North Texas community in four years. In 2012, the number of donors nearly tripled to 38,000 from 13,500 in 2011. Nine hundred and twenty seven nonprofits (up 50% from 2011) received grants totaling $14.4 million (up 35% from $10.7 million in 2011). The incentive for nonprofits to participate in Giving Day is the prize and bonus funding offered. There will be $1.5 million in general bonus funds for 2013 and nearly $200,000 in prizes. Anticipated bonus for 2013 is 7.5% to 8% on each gift made September 19. Giving Day could raise $20 million in 2013.
