DADA’s Dallas Art City film to screen Friday, July 19 at Dallas Museum of Art

The Dallas Museum of Art will rescreen the film Dallas Art City on Friday, July 19 at 10:30 p.m. in the Horchow Auditorium. Admission to the DMA and the screening is free.

The screening is in conjunction with the exhibition DallasSITES: Charting Contemporary Art, 1963 to Present that is on display through September 15, 2013 in the Hoffman Galleries at the Dallas Museum of Art, 1717 N. Harwood St. Dallas, TX 75201. Call 214-922-1200.

In celebration of the Dallas Art Dealers Association’s 25th year in 2010, director and editor Colby Allen was commissioned to create the film Dallas Art City. The film, which premiered at the Dallas Museum of Art, begins in the 1980s and examines how the art scene in Dallas has evolved over the years. This film explores the stories of the people who have invested so much of themselves in the art of a city: the gallerists who have invested in local artists, the artists who have chosen to stay here, and the communities formed by both.
