Color Me Contemporary
In celebration of contemporary art, Southwest Gallery cordially invites you to
COLOR ME
CONTEMPORARY
Saturday, February 3rd from 1-5 pm
Meet Paul Walden, Mark Whitmarsh, Tony Saladino, and Dennis Johnson
and experience their colorful new works!
Paul Walden refers to “Apparent Chaos” when viewing his paintings in a limited sense. They appear chaotic but the subconscious elements create order and harmony with in the composition. “The repetition of the painting & the layering techniques I have developed are the tools that allow the perceptions of an underlying order to emerge.”
Mark Whitmarsh creates relationships that excite the eye through exploration of light, color and space. “As I build layers of color, a personal iconography evolves on the painted surface.”
Tony Saladino’s use of color and subject matter make for beautifully executed works that are not only pleasing to the eye but thought-provoking as well. “I try to use each medium’s scale and characteristics to its advantage to give my imagination an avenue which can explore truth on a two dimensional plane.
Dennis Johnson’s paintings do not have to relate to anything or follow rules. It simply invites us to think, to reflect, to open our mind to the possibility that all any art has to do is make us feel.
